What is your favorite Union Pacific “Heritage Paint Scheme”? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Over the years, Lionel has produced a number of Union Pacific Heritage paint schemes to honor their Fallen Flags. I was reading an article recently and wondered which one was the favorite among the O Gauge modeling community.

Personally, I like the “Katy” followed by the “Rio Grande”.

Honestly Don, I like them all for different reasons but if someone pinned me down and asked me to pick my favorites I would say UP1996 (Southern Pacific Heritage), UP1988 (MKT “Katy” Heritage), and UP1983 (Western Pacific Heritage).

1996 and 1988 were the first units I saw when I moved to Texas and I have models of both so naturally they would make the favorite list Lol. Got some really good memories from seeing all those heritage units for the first time especially since,as with most of my catches, I’ve been in the right place at the right time! So the surprise makes it even more special🙂
