Al Capone's Tommygun case.
Well, since this is a toy/model 3-rail train forum I'd say it carries a toy/model train. The length indicates a large O-gauge or G-gauge item, and unless you have several of these cases laying around for multiple cars I'd say it is for an expensive engine.
While it could be something like a brass G-gauge GG1, I will go with a brass steam engine, maybe an articulated engine from the shape.
If there is anything other than a toy train in it, I will go with Dave's response.

Looks a lot like my son's case for his electric guitar.
But my guess is it contains a N or Z scale layout.

OK, I was bringing a gift to a friend who for the past 22 years has always wanted one but never had the opportunity realistically. This buddy of mine had a history of playing the clarinet and was fascinated by my saxophones. So I stopped by his house with the case and wished him a happy birthday! And he stared at the case, and I only wished I had a video of the event!
picture of the contents of the case next up.
So does anyone know why when I place the photos the “value required “shows up in red? Photos wont send!
tried a few times……hmmmm

I was sitting a home last night after a long work week wondering what kind of box I could birthday wrap this loco in when I realized I had a empty straight saxophone case waiting for a contents! it not only fit well, it was velvet padded where the running gear rods were! I certainly grinned a Cheshire smile when the top of the case closed over the great hump of the J roof!
That looks great!
It's a "Saxo-Train" ...no, wait... it's a "Lionel-O-Phone."
