Hi everyone! As some of you know I have created a YouTube Channel that involves product reviews and running sessions. Recently, I have realized that I need to see what the viewers would like to watch and enjoy watching. So here is the million-dollar question, what type of video would you all like to see? For example, Menards, MTH, Lionel Sunset Third Rail, etc. Or, would y'all like to see more running sessions of modern and postwar trains? Thanks for reading and happy railroading!

I like prototype movies, and unfortunately, I like transition era the best and any steam or early diesel is hard to come by.
I have very little interest in videos of models.

Trainmaster, I will give you my honest feedback, if you want it. First of all I think it's great you are involved in the hobby and making videos. I checked out your youtube page. But personally, I'm not going to watch a 20 or 30 minute review of a product. It's just too long.
I would look at reviews of other products to see what works ( It doesn't matter if they are trains. Look at electronics or whatever interests you). You might find it helpful to write a script and storyboard your shots. That way you can think about what you want to say and the best way to get the info across.
For me a 5-7 minute review would be about the limit of my attention span.

I don't mind, you are just being honest and that is what I am looking for. I can see where you are coming from but, to be honest, in order for me to make a video 5-7 minutes long, I would have to cut out 90% of what I put in the video. Now, I have been trying to create a side series that would short and quick but would have products of collectible/interesting effects. In other words, videos in the 5-10 minute range. The only problem I am having is creating a name for the series. Any ideas? Thanks for your feedback and have a good week!
Youtube encourages you to make longer than 10 minute videos since they can sell more ad content and unfortunately, that a long time to keep someone's attention. Unless you are doing a step by step how to, I would try to keep the videos between 5 and 10 minutes long. Personally, I rather a long video be broken up into sections so I can easily jump to the part I want to see next or go back easily. As far as content, I enjoy product reviews, product comparisons, and how to's followed by train running sessions. I know small kids LOVE just running the trains with little or no talking needed as the action speaks for itself.

Thanks for your input and your subscription! I agree with you on kids just wanting to see trains running. When my local club set up, and run trains, most of the kids, who come to see, just go crazy about the trains running and not pay much attention to the detail. Things go well until somebody has too much fun and tuches something. Thanks again and have a great day!
I'd also recommend keeping the videos short. When I look at my analytics you can see a very clear drop off as the video goes on. I tend to break mine up into parts. Try to keep them bite size as they say.
The only problem is that I deal with product reviews so it is a little bit harder to make things so short. I guess you can say that my videos are based on Eric's. Give history/stats, show the product, and then run/light up the product. I have tried to make things shorter but no can do. Thanks again!
Eric does seem to have his format figured out. I'd say emulating his style for reviews isn't a bad idea. Just as long as you aren't just straight copying him. Always good to learn from a pro.

Exactly! I do not want to be one of those who make "cookie-cutter" videos or that copies and pastes other people's style/content. I just want to make videos, similar to you, show off the hobby and have fun. Are there some downsides with doing this. Yes, but it is fun to see people enjoying them.
