I have a tinplate prewar M10000 that I have converted to tmcc but the antenna only works when outside of the shell. What material could i use inside to connect the err antenna wire to?

See these handrails? I did a tinplate steamer and I took all the handrails and made replacements of nickel wire and insulated them from the shell to create an antenna. It was a PITA, but the only way I could get a working antenna.

So you replaced them and that worked with the tmcc. Thanks for the tip. I will use it.
On those same lines GRJ, I just replaced a shell on a NP F-3 TMCC and prefer not to break the old shell to remove the antenna, is there a decent replacement easily fabricated?

Note the fact that I had to insulate the wire used from the shell. I used clear heatshrink so it wasn't all that visible right at the point it went through the shell. I used the nickel wire so I could solder to it, the SS wire used originally for the handrails is very difficult to impossible to solder.

Sure, for plastic shells you can just use a long wire, I glue it to the top of the shell and loop it around. About 15-18" of wire is plenty.
Thank you GRJ !
