What was missing from the Lionel 2017 Catalogs that you were hoping to see?
Something that hasn't been produced in true O yet.

David,
I was hoping to see a Pennsy T1 but the E8 will fill in quite nicely.

A southern pacific aux. tender to go behind the GS4 would have been nice.
SuperO and more choices of transformers.
Thanks, Phil

Gondola? Theater car?
An FP45 Warbonnet, Superfleet, and blue/yellow
I don't hope anymore. Too few people want what I want.

89' NS autoracks....but some of the lionscale cars make up for it.......
It has been a while since Lionel made their TMCC TrackMobiles, and it is nearly impossible to find one at a store or online store. I thought they might reappear in this catalog.
More Lionmaster
Mostly ho hum. Lots and lots of monster-sized stuff that is useless to those with more modest sized layouts. Disappointing that there are still only the 21" passenger cars. Where, o where, are the 18 and 15 inchers?
I was hoping to see gilded page ends and a satin-ribbon page marker.
What, me worry?
I was hoping to see a SOO LINE SD40, but then again I would have to pay about $1,100 for a pair of them, so it can wait a little longer.
I was hoping for a set of SOO LINE 57' Mechanical Refrigerator Cars in all paint scheme variations from 1965, 1969, 1974, 1980.
Andrew
OK David.
Clinchfield Lionmaster

I would expect that once the first run of SD45's get released and Lionel sees the feedback. Similar to what has been done with the SD40's.
More GG1 steam locomotives.

Pullmor motors and Magne-Traction. A postwar inspired set without tin can motors. And of course, Super O track!
There have been several variations in NORFOLK SOUTHERN auto rack and auto carrier paint schemes since 1990.
Perhaps the people at Lionel could start with the NS auto rack on TRAILER TRAIN flat cars from 1990 and work their way forward in time with the NS paint schemes.

I guess this is the off-year for a Vision Line product!

Norfolk and Western Auto Carriers.
DT&I, D&TS 86' high-cube box cars

A nice modern LC+ diesel, such as an ES44ac.
more modern cars with sounds!
They should re-run the vision line tank cars. They are like gold!
Open scale auto racks. TOFC's and two bay wood chip hoppers in Lion Scale from the Weaver tooling...........Paul
Amtrak Viewliners, Amtrak ACS-64, Semi-scale LionChief GG1, SD40 in PanAm Railways paint scheme.

I totally agree. I saw them on ebay for $800. If they reproduced them, I would but a pack.
PRR N1
Amtrak ACS-64 (Still hope MTH will come through this year)
Amtrak Amfleet & Viewliners
I don't typically express my wishes for things to be made, nor any disappointment when new catalogs come out. I actually got a couple secret wishes in this one, so I'm quite pleased.
There is one thing that I wanted to see, and it is something that Lionel is already producing. The problem is that they aren't available for sale yet. I want the new Lionscale trucks to re-truck my old Weaver fleet.
Not a very glamorous request, I know, but that's something I could really use.
Ugh, still no Amtrak E8's :'(
Was a hoping for some Reading passenger cars to go with the T1's.
The Brookville BL20G / BL20GH. There are 16 in service, at the moment; 12 BL20GH types at Metro North and 4 BL20G types on Staten Island Railway. The BL20G is designed for freight service and could be painted for a variety of regional and short lines. To the best of my knowledge and ability to search Google's database, no one has produced a model of this locomotive in any gauge/scale, to date.

In contrast, PRR bought 1, yes only ONE S-2 steam turbine locomotive and it was a flop. Undeterred, Lionel has issued several iterations of the S-2 on multiple occasions. So has MTH.
The comments above indicate that most folks are disappointed in the most recent catalog for its lack of variety and new products. We all complain about the prices and the quality issues but then save our milk money in order to buy our heart's desire, when such is offered.
The BL20 is a mid-size locomotive of distinctive appearance that would look at home on and be able to negotiate virtually any layout, regardless of size, in passenger, freight or work train service and there's even one on Metro North painted up in the McGinnis livery. Sadly, I am forced to look to MTH for interesting diesel power and find it. My one foreseeable locomotive purchase for 2017 will be a MTH GE 44 Tonner in B&O.
C'mon, Lionel, be more creative!
David,
I was kind of hoping for another Northern Pacific, Black and Gold Legacy GP9, to run a double header Legacy NP GP9 Military Consist behind. I have the Scale, JLC TMCC GG1 you sold me and my MTH P2 GG1 running the military consists, in opposite directions now, I was hoping to add the Legacy NP GP9's also.
PCRR/Dave
Yea, that one is missing.
21' Passenger cars for the Chessie System T-1's.....
