Lionchief Plus NW2. They were just produced the 1 year, and they haven't been produced since. From the comments I've seen on the forum, they were well received. The four road names produced didn't interest me, so I've been hoping they would produce more in different road names.

- An Aux Tender for the Freedom Train's GS-4.
- Chessie Steam Special passenger cars. I told Harry and Bill Henning I'd buy their Chessie T-1 on display in the store, if the new catalog had the matching set of cars. Come on, Lionel. These would have helped dealers move a few locomotives!
- Great Northern "Empire Builder" passenger set/cars. True... 3rd Rail is currently taking reservations for their version. But it would have been interesting to see Lionel go head-to-head with Scott on this. Just wasn't meant to be. Instead Lionel went with a Burlington Northern offering. Same territory... but not for me.
I guess we'll have to wait for Volume 2!!! Now when does that come out again???

What's missing? Easy .... big steam. There are two choices, or I suppose three if you count a shay. Peter

Does Lionel have the tooling to produce these cars since they went to all plastic 21"?

What's missing? Easy .... small steam. there are two choices, or I suppose three if you count a fully detailed PRR Atlantic with whistle smoke and swinging bell...

Something new, like a Alco HH660, Baldwin diesel engines and of course Bangor & Aroostook EMD NW2, F3, GP7 and E7 #10.

It's difficult to ask for what I like because it's so regional... I keep hoping for something steam reasonably close to scale in Texas and Pacific. Realizing the local appeal and concentration of the market in northeastern and western roads I am certainly dreaming. The promised 3D Rail T&P 2-10-4 though not Lionel is surely a dream come true. The scale Erie Pacific of not that many years ago is very close to the Texas Pacific P-1. An oil tender with a doghouse and a capped stack would do it. Maybe even an accurate paint job!
At a certain point one wonders how many beautiful NYC Hudsons and GS-4s before the market is saturated? Apparently limitless. Oh and some working WW-2 era T&P "chocolate " heavyweights would be nice!
Dreaming in Texas!
I really liked those die cast diesels they came out with a few years back. Love to see the GE ES44 EVO they offered and the Canadian Pacific. BigRail
Union Pacific Oil Fired Challenger 3985:
Joe Jordan Auxiliary tender:
Add-on pack to the UP Excursion consist. I'm not sure if 18 inches or 21 inches would be the correct length for the baggage car shown in this picture:

That's easy - just go to eBay as there are several of these constantly for sale. Besides, at the rate the catalogue pricing is skyrocketing, you're better off with eBay.
Frankly, even though my sons and I are relatively new and just starting to put together our roster, the new pricing on "common" Legacy motive power has reached a breaking point, bordering on the absurd. It has nothing to do with an ability to "afford" these items. It's got everything to do with "do I want to put this much money into an item like this." Sort of like a friend I have who paid $800 for Gucci belt, claiming it was all about quality. To me, a belt is an item with an upper limit on value, given it's a ... belt.
I'm not addressing whether we are being gouged, as I don't have enough data to know the answer. What I'm saying is, from a practical perspective of someone who is not so deep in this hole that I can't see clearly, paying $2,000 for a "common" Legacy is kind of insane. In addition, it has no more or less quality or features than similar items on eBay that are slightly used and available at half that price, and it gets harder and harder to justify buying new Lionel products - IMO.

Mike Reagan mentioned several times last year that any car based on a baggage car design would be 18" -- including the UP flag baggage car and the AFT display cars. However, even the latest 2017 catalog continues to get things wrong -- both in graphics and captions.

Boy I hope Lionel hits a home run on these cars! I have not anticipated more a product from Lionel than this one.

Sunset is doing Amtrak E8/9's which are currently in production from what I understand. Don't know if all of the Amtrak's are already reserved - if interested contact Scott Mann.
Definitely worth a call to Scott. I seem to recall reading that somebody ordered a bunch of these (10 or 20) -- in essence acting as a dealer per se -- to get the roadname made.

How about "AMROAD" as in Silver Streak?!
I'd seriously like to have a set of the Texas and Pacific E-8s but my cash is going to the 2-10-4.

My curves can handle one, but my bank account can't.
Neither can mine, gonna have to sell a couple of firearms to do it.... one time chance though...,
it truly is a fantasy come true. Imagine being a NYC fan or Pennsy and they made the first ever Hudson or GG-1.

I second this also!
Another 2 pack of ACCURATE UP Excursion cars, even though we're awaiting the first delivery!
LEGACY EMD E-6 locomotives
Wasn't expecting to see it but would have been thrilled to see a UP Flag SD70MAC, powered or non-powered, to pair with the 28227 (4979) from 2004. Seems less likely as each year passes.

Agreed...And green
Reasonable prices, ATSF Legacy steam locomotives, smaller scale steam that can go on O36 with full Legacy, and all the LC+ locomotives as LionMaster with Legacy control.

What Legacy locomotives are you referring to on eBay that are half price? I do not see any especially ones that are couple of years old. What is the difference between a locomotive that is "common" legacy and on that is not?
How about a Milwaukee Road - TMCC Rotary Snowplow, like the Rio Grande one that just came out this past year?
LC+ 773, GG1
Some heavyweight passenger cars for PRR that would have gone great with the K4's. Guess we will have to wait until the next catalog maybe.
I would like to add LC + 746 to the post by Art which included LC+ 773, GG1.
Thanks, Phil
Reading & Northern hoppers
Also the R&N 425 with Aux tender in O scale of course.
Actually I do miss their line of "mainline" signals. I wonder why they don't have them anymore. I like the ones I have, especially the three light mainline signals. BigRail
I was kind of hoping for a new Pennsy steam, maybe an N1.
I was also surprised that there weren't any new sound cars.
