I bumped into LED lighting when I found a post to wire teeny-tiny lights into post war Lionel Steam Engine Boiler plate as marker lights. (Clearance lights more accurate?) Since then I have looked into the many kits and creative options they are working on. Shelly is a person at Evan Designs, who is such a breath of fresh air for customer support. I mention this because we have all seen then "less than legendary" customer service. I know, right!

Now, when I saw the photos of one of the expert modellers in this group who added an old caboose to fill a spot on the layout, I was amazed to see the lighting and the flashing from the welder. Amazing. Ya'll do cool stuff (layman's term for fantastic modelling work) that inspires.

I have ordered many kits and lights from Evan Designs and am working on the campfire kit. I am placing it in an abandoned mechanical Lionel Cattle Car boxcar to fill a corner of my carpet layout. I can hardly wait until I show it to the grandson.

*He is usually impressed with one small caveat. I just received a little Bobber caboose, that I was inspired to fashion and bash, from a post on this forum. He said "Hey Papa, this is just a train for Babies." I was stunned by his honesty, and it did not make it to the layout that day.*

I can wholeheartedly vouch for Evan Designs lighting products!

I recently added cool white LEDs to my dummy loco and they look GREAT.  Just added a warm white to a building tonight and it looks GREAT.  So, I ordered 10 more to redo many buildings.

Meanwhile, while looking around on their site, I stumbled on "lightning."  So, I had to order one of these and give it a whirl.  I'll try to remember to come back and post a little video when it's here and installed.  Meanwhile, from their site/YouTube: (3) Create Lighting Storms in your Miniature Land with our circuit - YouTube

My dad, who is now 81 years old is always amazed at what can be done today vs. the trains he put up for me in the 70s!  This one will probably blow his mind!

I totally agree with the great products and service from Evans Design's. Here are 2 short videos (hope they loaded) of a pond scene I built with the grandkids (still have to wire the lamppost).  It includes the flickering lights from Evan's for the campfire.  They look great and the kids love 'em.  Check out the creature under the dock.  The layout will eventually be called, Grandpa's Funtastic RR.  Just got to have fun!
