Guys-
Where do you get your Atlas O? I know the market has changed in the past couple of years in regards to Atlas dealers. I'd love to hear who you recommend and why...
Thanks!

Anywhere I can find what I want.
Paul at Catoctin Mountain Trains will order you whatever you want. Thats my go-to because he's the local guy and I like him, but I've also bought some stuff from Western Depot, and Deichman's Depot (who will deliver to Greenberg shows). ModelTrainStuff/MB Klein in Baltimore is also a good place to look.
Charles Ro for sure.
AM Hobbies, now JD's Trains is who I use. Atlas has been haviing problems getting product to the market lately.
JD seems to be following in the steps of Bob Thratcher. Speaking of Bob, has anyone heard from him since he let AM hobbiers go?
The Public Deliverly Track is another good Atlas Dealer. Hobby Station is also a good sourse for Atlas.
Hope this helps,
Richard
I buy Atlas O from Jeff at JD's trains. Jeff is a really nice guy and he is very knowledgeable.
Between JD's Trains and Caboose Stop Hobbies,,,,,you just can't go wrong!
In trying to collect all the Penn Central rolling stock Atlas O has made, I've found that it really is easier to find it through dealers than the secondary market.
There is a reason why I am posting this question. I loved Bob Thatcher and gave him my business. Bob was irreplaceable.... If Atlas O made a Great Northern, Milwaukee Road, Burlington Northern or Northern Pacific I pre-ordered it from him. Since it became a part of JD Trains I've had difficulties. Despite instructions JD Trains ran my credit card without asking first. The first time around I let it go despite the mess they made at the bank. I spoke with them and worked at resolving it, as the charge wasn't authorized. Recently he did it again, I called him up to speak about it and he said that he doesn't have the time to call and let me know that the item has come in. I was pretty disappointed. Most of the places I work with are flexible. I have given Eastside Trains in Seattle a lot of business with pre-orders for the last 12 years and I don't have this problem with them.
I just want to see if others are having difficulties.... that's all.
And no I am not being difficult...I am just being curious.

Justin has the right idea. Paul can even toss in a new B&O B6 0-6-0...I think he's got one left or so. I've bought the few Atlas cars I've had over the years from Paul.
Right here on the Forum in the buy sell forum. One member SD40-2 has a huge list of Atlas for sale used in excellent condition at 1/2 the retail list price. I used to buy new but there are so many Atlas pieces for sale in like new condition for less then half retail price Both here and at train shows I frequent.

I must really be in the dark. When did this happen????
Gary
Bob turned AM Hobbies over to Jeff at JD's Trains back around August or September of last year. I never realy heard all the details but I think Bob had a health issue. The last of AM Hobbies' pre orders were shipped by Atlas. I remember reading on the forum that AM Hobbies inventory was bought by the Public Deliverly Track.
MueEgagle,
I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with Jeff. Even in his hayday Bob would screw up an order once in a while. I received double orders at least twice from Bob. Fortunately I did not have to go to the trouble of shipping the cars back to Bob and ensure credits were posted on my card. Since I live in the south we have next to nothing when it comes to LHS's. I was able to quickly sale the duclicate cars to friends and get a few more Discover points in the process.

David, for GN, NP, BN and Milwaukee why not go to Andy and Julia Petersen at Petersen Supply Co.? I do most of my Atlas business with Andy, always a pleasant experience. And, Andy can get you almost any Atlas product, not just his custom runs. You also mentioned Eastside Trains, have you tried them for the items you want? (They are my LHS and I make a lot of "impulse" Atlas loco and freight car purchases there...)
Scranton Hobby in Pennsylvania is an Atlas dealer.

My LHS can get me anything I want...
English's' Model Railroad, Montoursville, PA.....
Same here. If I can wait for perhaps up to a week, my LHS can get me anything, even small prodeucts of specialty manufacturers, etc. They do carry most of the more commonly used diameters of Atlas track along with their most popular switches, etc. When they don't have something and I need it in a hurry, I usually find it at Klein (modeltrainstuff.com) - I always get my order by normal shipping (not premium) within two days, sometimes one if I order early in the morning.
I have been using Jeff at JDTrains the last 5 years, service has been excellent although I am sure with the taking over of AM Hobbies this past year [I believe Bob was the largest Atlas O dealer in the country] there has been a few glitches in the transition.
Actually I have not been able to reach Jeff this past month, I guess the holiday season was very busy.
I deal with Lee at Dunham's Toy Trains in London, Ohio. He has quite a bit of Atlas-O in stock.
