I am rebuilding my layout and wanted to get feedback from y'all about where you place your TIU(s) and MIU(s).

The old incarnation of my layout used 2 TIU's in Super TIU mode.  I had them vertically mounted on a small sheet of plywood under the layout.  At that time I had shelving that was nearly 6 feet tall full of trains in multiple locations around the room.  I did experience some communication issues when I was at the opposite side of the room (about 20-25 feet away) with those shelves blocking line of sight.

I have 2 WIU's, but I have never used them.

I would appreciate hearing about where you have placed your TIU(s) and WIU(s), and if you have had any problems and had to move them.

I have an around-the-room layout in a room about 28 feet x 26 feet.  I have added an extension that projects into the middle of room for a yard.  I am planning to install the transformers, Legacy base, and DCS equipment next to the extension.  So, they will be almost exactly in the middle of the room.

My TIUs are on carts stowed under the tables as close to the center of track lengths as possible.  They are close to the front of the tables.

How do you keep your wires from bunching up  when moving the  table back and forth ?

The only thing I would think that would work well would be retractile electric cords ( "CURLY WIRES " ).

Very sharp looking control table Susan .

God speed.

Vince, Mine are located right under a peninsula with a double sided board.  Here is a view of my panel with TIU, Z4000, and surge protectors.

The other side of the board under this mini-peninsula has the AIUs, an auxiliary power source, and an fm radio to listen to Pittsburgh Pirates games when I am in the layout room during the game.

If you look behind the cart in the photo you will see curled stranded wire bundles.  The wires are long enough for the carts to roll all the way out.
