Dad, I couldn't wait for you to ask me to go with you. You have left me at the station too many times LOL. So I booked at the Wingate in York. Because I am still trying to think outside the box could this be Mark's ingenious way of giving us a clue that the next building is going to be a hotel. If not and it is true possibly Mike and Menards are coming to York then all the better...................Paul

Clever. Very clever. Hope you got my message from guest@menard-inc.com, Mark.
Why stay in York. IMO. I stay in Eden suites in Lancaster about a 20 minute drive on the highway. Nice and clean with a nice free buffet breakfast (cooked omelets etc) a nice indoor and outdoor pool.
Seacoast, If you can make it in 20 minutes to the fairgrounds you must be Superman.
we stay in Hunt Valley, MD. It is about 30 minutes south just off I83. It's a good place to get crabs. The blue kind of course.

Ok Eddie maybe 30 but who's counting . Pedal to the medal.
Mark, it looks like you fooled us all! I'll tell you what, if you sell them at York I'll buy one and a lot of other stuff!
I recommend Bully's in Columbia, PA. Its a B&B and part of Bully's Restaurant. Great rooms with an even better dinner. It's only 15 min from the show in Lancaster County, Columbia is on the Susquehanna river just opposite York County.
Where's the best place to stay at York? In a hotel.
I like Country Inn's and Suites by Carlson

While it may be possible to get there in 20 or 32 minutes off-peak, I've stayed in Lancaster and I know it's impossible to get to the Fairgrounds that quickly from Lancaster on Route 30 at 8:00am on Friday morning of York week. There's a half-mile backup at every stop light.
Good thing Mark from Menards really doesn't need to know where to stay!

I like Lancaster plus Millers Buffet is there too
For me, staying overnight in Lancaster would be like me driving almost half-way home. Strasburg is my half-way mark.

I've stayed in Lancaster on a few York trips. Rooms are much cheaper, and back when it was harder to find a room in York, Lancaster had greater availability.
Last trip, it seemed like the timing of the lights on 30 has been adjusted - the flow was better. And I've found that driving straight through York can be faster than driving around on 30.
My daily commute to work is 30 minutes each way, so making a drive like that to the fairgrounds is no big deal, especially if it means I get a room for half the price.

I live in New Hampshire, a 7 hour drive. So its all realative.
I always stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites York; it's just south of the 83/Bus 83 split. Takes about 10 mins to get to the fairgrounds. Clean, and a good breakfast. Only HIE I've ever stayed at where the biscuits (of biscuit & gravy fame) are actually soft enough you can cut with a fork. A bit on the high side (I think it was about $150 last time), but I have a bunch o' points....
I stay at the Heritage Hills Golf Course and Hotel with Magneta
Had reservations at the new Candlewood Suites. When we went to check in the guy in front of us was asking the desk clerk why they had no room for him when he called months ago. No explanation other than they had overbooked. They did offer him an alternative location about 40 minutes away. How nice.
My wife turned to me and wondered if we still had a room. It’s ok I said since we got a confirmation email on Monday.
Oops, it was not worth the electrons expended in sending it! They didn’t even offer to help us find another place since we had elected to pay on check-in and they didn’t owe us the favor. Oh boy!
We tried to contact the hotel manager and have yet to hear back four days later. We will NOT be staying at any Candlewood Suites until they make good on broken promises.
