Where do you get yours?
After looking at all the photos of Christmas Layouts here on the forum, my wife says we need more people. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced outlet for Christmas/winter people?
Thanks

Check the dollar stores. I think It's dollar tree that had 3 figures for a dollar.
You can even get the whole village if you order it.
The thing I liked is that they were more scale looking with the Dept. 56 building.
good morning...
the "selling season" for most retail stores has passed for this year...but, here's where i find figurines the year round...ebay and estate sales (usually overpriced)...try thrift stores and garage sales...they're out there...just be patient...

I've picked up Dept 56 figures year round at the Lennox outlet stores in Queens Town, MD & Rehoboth, DE. Most are discounted 50% or more.
I just bought a bunch of Plasticville people from ebay. I won three auctions of them. There are also plenty of other manufacturers on ebay. I also have about 100 Arttista figures which are really nice with detail. I put them up front and the Plasticville ones in back. Im a little biased towards Arttista though because I used to work for them when they were in Philly, I painted more figures than I care to remember. lol
Some day Im thinking about doing a how to article for the magazine on how to paint figures.
Thanks for all the quick replies.
Never thought about checking the Dollar stores. Will do that.
Told the wife we would get an early start next fall checking the local Michaels, Kohls, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Kohls and Michaels always have coupons. Sometimes our Sears and Ace Hardware stores also have some. Just need to start looking sooner.
Thanks
Barclay's is open all year. Great stuff at fair prices.

Dito to the above comments.
I wait for the after Christmas sales and pick up a few of the more detailed Lemax or other detailed figures. They look good in the front but the Lemax and Dept 56 are pretty big overscale so selective the buildings and other stuff lights etc. are closer to O scale but figures big so be selective.
However to echo the others have had great luck at various $ stores and even Walmart after Christmas sales on figures. They are cheap $1 each set or so and do not have the fine detail but if you put the worst in the background then they are OK.
You can also get out some paint and brushes and do detailing of the figures to make them look better.
Always lots of fun seeing what each store has for the holiday and adding a few more bits each year.
As was said, the Lemax and Dept56 figures are much larger than "O". Although pricey, I have a number of Arttista winter figures...kids with a sled, skaters, etc.
