I want to get some bcrs. Is there a way to look up online to figure out which battery an engine will need? I only have two at the moment I want to change. I believe both are gp40s.

Look at the charging jack. If it's round with a single center pin, you need the 9V BCR. If it's rectangular with two pins, you need the 3V BCR.
Need more info. Protosound or PS2, 5v or 3v PS2?
Dave , you can go to the J&W Electronics site and see the type of BCR you need . You need to see what kind of battery pack you have in your particular engine.
Also GRJ has a unit that I have used on a ps2 /3volt ( two AA replacement ) that works very well.

If no charging port I would assume 9 volt?
Yep, no charging port is an early 5V board. Obviously, you can look up the model on the MTH site and see that way as well.
