I am new here and to the hobby and could use some advice. I have a K-Line tanker that needs new couplers. I want to convert to Kadee's but don"t know which would be best, the standard 805 or the newer AAR type. This will be the first time to change out couplers and if all goes well I have other K-Line and Lionel cars I would like to change also. Any help or advice would be most welcome.

Bruce,

I have a Gulf Oil Tank car made by K-Line and I used the regular 805 couplers, but had to put a 3/16" thick shim on the car to lower the couplers to the correct height.

You might want to try their overset shank coupler #742 to allow for a thinner shim.

Sounds like you need to be on the 3-Rail Scale forum, most/all folks here still use the old style couplers.
