Returning from York, I saw a vendor who had done a whistle smoke upgrade to an o gauge MTH triplex.  The smoke intensity would actually change when the whistle tone changed.  This was still an engine that appeared to be under DCS control.  How is this done?  I have some familiarity with the PS2 board as I have done 6 or so successful PS2 steam engine upgrade kits.  Can this be done with the 3V PS2 board?

MTH Did this with an aux board in the 1 Gauge Triplex back many years ago.  It is coming with the new PS-3 Big Boy.

My under standing is that the early ones where a little bit of trickery.  The whistle steam effect was really done conventionally with an offset. Not via DCS control.

He may have added the circuit board MTH used in the #1 Triplex, or... it is still a Conventional effect but maybe a circuit board doing this.

PS-2 really has a lot of capability because of the 2 way talk.  Think of the Coors set were doors and smoke are activated remotely via 2 way talk.  Or GG-1 pantograph operation, though that is wired communication via an additional circuit board.  G

Everything was fresh, update, scans, etc., and I don't get the "join" screen now.

The other problem is the site designer put all the effort into "pretty", not functionality.

Using the most prominent section titled Acusmoke upgrades doesn't lead to anything.

"View more"   leads to..well basically nothing.

But I did watch the two videos. Neat

It is a very pretty site, the designer is obviously talented in that respect. I guess I just expected a little more content overall.

The idea is great! But I agree, a bit heavy. Id like to see some of that "pressure" diverted elsewhere too eventually.

Out of curiosity has anyone had experience with the 6-8100 Js that had cylinder smoke? I'm curious if the smoke just "drops" free air, is it pressured by the smoke piston, or was it fan driven. How does it compare to what we've seen in the Acusmoke videos
