White Train - Dept of Energy Nuclear Weapons Transport Train

When I lived and worked in Northwest Oklahoma near the Santa Fe Mainline I missed seen the "White Train" a few times.   If you use Google Maps, you can see the "Y" tracks that lead off the Santa Fe Mainline south of the Pantex plant east of Amarillo, Texas.

Also a good Google read is the trains that the US Airforce used as bombing targets. these trains moved around the US and was used by SAC  bombers to practice bomb runs.

The Guards' cars would be something akin to Lionel's 3535 AEC security car.

There was a very interesting clinic on the White Train at the recent convention of the Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society.

The cars were rebuilt, replaced, and augmented over a period of about 50 years.

I personally never saw the train running, as I worked on a part of the Santa Fe where the White Train never did run.
