Just for reference do you pay the PRRT&HS lynch mob union wages?  Must be expensive keeping them on retainer for the right moment .

I'm not really sure.  They're kind of like the Spanish Inquisition, no one expects them.   Within PRRT&HS, I'm registered at the Vigilante membership level.

I ordered the Black PRR #4935 (okay Brunswick green...) and the 8 car Broadway.

I was thinking about the Tuscan PRR 4913 too but I already have the JLC Tuscan 4912. I'll wait until it comes out and decide if I want it then.

What is the deal on this paint? I see the pictures from the catalog which are quite green, but the nickname of the engine was "Blackjack" and the color of that real engine in pictures I've found look more black than green. So...is it going the be black or green like in the 2016 Signature catalog?

The rivet ones look kind of unique and interesting...but the #4935 was more tempting. I guess I'm more of a traditionalist.

Wonder what color it's gonna be...?

At least they did not ruin the classic lines of the GG1 with WARBONNET livery!

........Yet!

Bruce;

I think that the Warbonnet is possibly the greatest post-steam era paint scheme. That being said, it is just sooooo wrong on so many levels on the GG-1.

I would buy that right now!      Partly because I think it's fun, and partly to see the usual players go apoplectic when I brought it to run at a club.

EscapeRocks:  It was executed with exactly that in mind...my version of painting a mustachio on the Mona Lisa.

I am truly pleased that the GG1 fans are getting their opportunity to add to their motive power fleet. Over $1,000 seems high for a non-steam locomotive to me. That's all I have to say about price.

Since I am modeling the L&N, I am not in the market for a PRR, Conrail, or any northeast railroad, so I will not be in the market for any of the GG1's.

Enjoy those GG1's and please post some videos of the sparking pantagraphs I'd love to see those special effects.

Even with a self imposed restriction to road names heading West from Chicago, it was difficult to resist this model. A great catalog for Northeast enthusiasts. I'm excited for those who have ordered and look forward to posts showcasing their VL GG1. I'm also delighted to get a break from purchasing some these costly confections.

Bruce;

One of the first engines I bought when I really got back in to trains in the late 70's was a Santa Fe F3 A-A set (I believe it was referred to as the Super O version - not home, so I can't check the number). It had the silver trucks, and I agree, they really make the whole pain scheme. I bought them as new/old stock from good old Madison Hardware. I then wanted the B unit with the same silver trucks. THAT took a while for them to find, but was worth the wait because, as I said, the silver trucks really made the engine look great. In the case of the GG-1, I am afraid NOTHING would help!!!

Pre-ordered a riveted 4800 5 stripe and the broadway limited set (including the station sounds add on.) I can't wait to simulate it doing a transfer to my Steam Turbine or Pennsy T1

I think the price is high, but I'm not buying it for an monetary investment. My Son and I spend hours playing with trains and the ROI from a "quality time" with my Son is priceless!!!!

I do want one, but my hesitation is based on the largest possible curves I can conceivably build into my layout.  I hope to have 0-96, but would probably need to have this thing run on 0-72 also.  I can't go bigger than o-96.

Can I ask those of you who are buying these, what size curves are you planning to run these things on?

Thanks,

Ben

Lionel recommends minimum O-72 for the JLC versions (which I don't think will change much -- if at all -- with the Legacy version), so you should be more than fine with O-96.  With 21" passenger cars in tow, the broader the curve radii the better!

I pre ordered the L82752 #4877.  Have all the other vision line engines so thought would give it a try. Looks like the sound system will be a upgrade from previous models along with the new sparking LED lol. Not bad for the price if you look at the features and comp[are to some of your favorites with the new technology and a 2 year warranty. Cheers Don

I've run my current JLC version on O-63, but had to take it really easy to keep the lead truck from derailing.  It really does need O-72 as specified which is what I run it on when I'm not on the club layout, but it will obviously run great on anything bigger as well.
