I heard about him. Do you have his contact information.

No. You might have to Google him, as he recently moved from Hinsdale, to a western suburb, in order to be closer to his kids & grandkids. Dan is expensive, and takes awhile, but there is nobody better!

+1.  Dan is a perfectionist and does excellent work. HW is correct this could take a couple of years. Not sure how he handles complete custom train builds, but I know when he does interiors for Wasatch and other brands of brass cars he does them assembly line style, where he does groups of the same type of car (chair, diner, sleeper, etc.) at the same time.  Amazing sight to see a dozen Wasatch cars dismantled waiting for Dan to install the interiors.

Just how custom do these guys do?  I'd love a scale model of my grandfather's passenger car.

All it takes is:

1) drawings of the car.

2) Money!

I be leave the Eagle car built  will set you back about 1800-2500. I is a one of a kind. But is not for sale.

It has everything full interior and lighting. I think also it is a recent 1 st place model contest winner at O scale West 2016.

Does anyone build custom passenger cars?

Look in the mirror; you can! 😊

Find some reasonably appropriate kits, gather up some parts and go for it...

I understand that one's time can be limited, but look at this way: back in the day (not so long ago) kit building was the norm; and now with the internet, finding and gathering what you need is much easier.

Just a thought...

I've built a number of my own passenger cars only because no one makes what I want. Building one is very time consuming and at times frustrating so I couldn't imagine building for anyone but myself.

I just finished this C&O Pullman Standard 5 bedroom/buffet/lounge/observation but it's taken about two years of on and off work.

It's an old American Lightweight Car Company kit with Union Station Products car sides and a lot of extra detail parts from Precision Scale, Scale City, Delta Models, and others. Rides on K-Line trucks.
