I just saw this on the local news:The lead NTSB investigator said that the locomotive's windshield appaers to have been shattered, maybe from a projectile.
According to every report I've seen or read, the emergency braking was activated by the engineer, NOT any automated system in the engine.
I am still waking up and only 1cup of coffee in me and counting. I remember reading that the engine did have a speed limiter. I don't remember where I saw it.
And what good would a speed limiter do? After making that turn there is a fairly straight shot to NJ. Once you cross the Delaware River you are in Trenton then it's high speed straight to New Brunswick, NJ.
