This forum is mostly for O gauge & standard gauge, and that's what I'm into. But, I have a nice 4' x 8' HO layout with the old Marklin 3 rail track with all of the early tinplate HO trains.
When I do not run my HO for months, I have to take a pole to keep pushing a loco around each loop for about 10+ times before the track is clean enough for them to run without getting stuck. And I do have a Liliput Shell tank car track cleaning car. But it does me no good if my loco can't pull it along the dirty tracks!!!!
WHY is there not somebody making a battery operated track cleaning car?!!!!!
Maybe I've struck gold, and should start making them. But I would think that this has been thought of before I came along.
Even though my layout is only a 4' x 8', it has 3 loops, and is up against 2 walls, and the largest problem is that I spent much time (and money) putting all of those fragile cantenary posts and wires with the tracks. So it's very hard to not knock off my wires while "pole pushing".
Even though I'm a large scale prewar person, my HO layout looks real nice with an old antique look to it.
Any help, anybody? Do I just need to keep pushing cleaning car along with my pole and knock off my overhead wires? Or, should I start making battery powered track cleaning cars that look like track inspection car, and make some money?
