Every once and awhile(not all the time) I'll turn the layout on, wait for all the lights in the WIU to come on. Open the app and hit the refresh symbol and get "Cannot find TIU" no matter how many times I hit refresh or wait and hit refresh nothing.
Now I have a brand new Google Onhub router which allows me to look at the state of my wifi via an APP. I can see every device connected to my home Wifi network and when I check it sees the WIU and says it's connected.
The only way I've found to correct the issue is to reset the Router. Then the issue goes away and I can run the trains via the APP. I will note that even though sometimes the APP is not seeing the TIU everything else in my home network is working. I'm wondering if it would be best to leave the WIU on all the time?
