Just got a new engine #20-3120-1 . Reportedly had a speaker replacement. It has a STAR 4ohm/3 watt . It doesn't seem flaky at this time but it does have the rougher surface even though it does look brand new.
Given some of the questionable issues wjith the STAR speakers , I though a different ( VECO ) speaker might be more likely to not flake off. The 4 ohm / 4 watt is the only type I have.

Watts is a capacity. The speaker can handle 4 Watts of power. Think of this as a max value.
The impedance rating is matching the speaker to the amplifier spec. This is the non-negotiable specification, it must match.

Thank you Vernon. I'm glad to see you added the last sentence as I can throw some paint around on a canvas but can't arrange electrons in a meaningful manner .
