I have a Williams Baldwin 4-6-0 Santa Fe #464 4-6-0 and Baltimore and Ohio #1357 (B & O) # 4-6-0. The Santa Fe does not have a switch under the cab to lock in forward while the B & O does? I was going to purchase one more Williams 4-6-0 with a different road name but wanted to be able to lock it in forward and also interchange engines with the tenders if needed. Any suggestions?

I think your engines were produced in different years. You are looking at new electronics and a rewiring job if you want to be able to swap tenders.

I'm not sure about the Williams 4-6-0 specifically. But it's not a good idea to mix and match tenders on any modern electronics-equipped loco, unless you know for sure that they are wired the same way. Many of the connectors have several pins: AC, DC, sound, etc., which are not interchangeable. If you "zap" a motor or circuit board it could amount to an expensive repair (assuming the parts are still available.) Look before you leap on this one!
Yes, I do believe the engines were produced in different years with different names. Both have an on/off switch under the cab for smoke but only one has an on/off switch for run/lock for direction. Williams has a nice parts list but shows only one type tender connection even though the two tender connectors are clearly different. I will call their parts department to see if they can tell me how to tell which of their engines have the run/lock switch before I purchase. Thanks for the reply.
