I don't have to tell you Pat, that's a darn good price. $60.00 from $350.00.

BUT it really makes me wonder about the market strategies from the various train companies? I seem to remember hearing all of these trains were limited production. The Brewster loco above is stated at 500 units, which was the impression I got for the other different ones. I guess they had trouble even selling 500 units. Of course the $350 MSRP - even with the usual street discount - clearly wasn't enough of an incentive. They're sure not going to recover their tooling investment with that kind of blowout price.

Maybe WBB would have done better with these if they had a more appealing list price in the first place. For us train knowledgeable guys, today "limited production" means parts will not be available in the near future, instead of increased collectible value.

Granted these engines have dual larger can motors with die cast trucks, but nothing else... $350.00 is a lot in my mind for such a product. Hope I'm wrong, but that doesn't seem to bode well for a product that was aimed at reaching youngsters. Lionel does pretty well with the Thomas line, which is granted, more well known than Chuggington. But even the prices for the Thomas line from Lionel are more appealing to newcomers with young children, even if they do have smaller motors and more plastic construction.

Still that's a great price Pat. Hope some folks with youngsters take advantage of that good price.
