Williams scale Hudson - motor swap to reduce gearing | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

looking at the question of gearing on a Williams scale Hudson, I came across this. 4:1 reduction sounds like too much?

does anyone have experience of a swap of this sort? There seems to be plenty of room and it avoids either disturbing the wheelset, or the wiring

Found this nomogram from NMRA, very instructive.

looks as though a 6000 rpm motor, giving a top speed of 100 (scale) mph would be the answer?

does anyone have the spec for the original motor?
