I have a very large layout (22' x 12') that has many switches and sidings. I would like to be able to run as many as 3 or 4 trains. I bit off more than I can chew to get started, but why not go big and work/play for many years to come? I played a bit as a child with HO and bought O27 with my oldest (now 26). I now have a 4yr old (yes, I know what causes that!) that loves trains and we are excited each time we go to the garage for train time.

I have just begun to wire the #1 outer loop line. I am using 16GA for main bus with connections every 6-8 feet. I am aware that I need to insulate the switches and other sections that I want to add accessories and will be working on that at same time of actually soldering the wire (right now just using clip-on's for testing.)

I have heard that I may have issues with the reverse looping and not get power on my #2 upper line. I also have an Amtrak line #4 and what I call my Country loop #3

A few questions and they may be related:

1 - best way to isolate the switches

2 - best way to wire for reversing loop

3 - how to operate / power trains once switching from one line to the next?

I appreciate any and all comments - I have been working hard to get to this point and I plan on adding pictures and videos at some point to help with any assistance that can be sent my way.
