Hi does anyone have or know the wiring for a 691-DREU

i am pretty sure RL\RL and FL\FL are front and rear lights.

But what are SW1/SW1/SM-/SM+ pins???

and M-/M+/NC/GND/3RD pins???

I am trying to convert an old electronic reverse unit in a GP38 NJ transit 4300 engine...it was hard wired in this and the board is bad.

thanks

does anyone know what the 3 pin connector is in the above sound device? it is much smaller than the "normal" pins...

Volume pot. Edit, per John below-Molex Picoblade   I'm thinking JST-ZH connector?

I think the picture is diesel "trainsounds"? https://ogrforum.com/...sounds-board-pinouts

Also here is one but the older style board https://ogrforum.com/...51#79142442638386751

ok great thanks for the help...one last one before i lookup...i guess there is also a 6 pin 1.25mm Molex PicoBlade connector for the other connector???...or does the name mean something when it comes to pin numbers?

thanks again for the help...

Connector brands and names, as well as pin spacing data or numbers determine what fits.

Then you have pin spacing- common ones- 1.0mm, 1.25mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.54mm

Bands- Molex, TE, Amphenol, Hirose are just a few. Then each brand may have series or types with names- example PicoBlade.

Also the JST sandards that might be produced in brands

  • ZH (1.5mm pitch)
  • PH (2.0mm pitch)
  • XH (2.5mm pitch)
  • PA/XA (2.0mm / 2.5mm pitch)
  • EH (2.5mm pitch)
  • SM (2.5mm pitch)
  • RCY (2.5mm pitch)
  • SH/SR (1.0mm pitch)

While there are scenario where a matching pin space distance connector may make contact over the pins, it may not lock in to the socket or deform the socket. Again brand and type matching connector sockets and shells.

Sadly, the way to learn this is looking at and possibly handling hundreds of different connector to learn the brands, styles and models used. Also, having a good set of cheap calipers to measure is another tool.

So yes, it's a skill and I still struggle.

Yes, that is also a 1.25mm Molex PicoBlade.  The name is just the connector style, the square pin on the PCB is pin-1.  A family of connectors usually has a number of pin arrangements, typical for single row connectors is they start at 2-pin and usually go up to at least 8-10 pins, sometimes more.

I suggest you buy some pre-made cables from AliExpress for the small pitch connectors, crimping those is a giant PITA!

Here's a page that I bought a bunch of pre-made cables, makes it easy to do the job.  You get 10 pieces of the 3-pin 1.25mm cable assemblies for $1.24, and if you buy a few different lots, the shipping is combined.  They have everything but the JST-EH, but they're available elsewhere on the AliExpress site.
