Wiring up my layout

For those who use the legacy powermaster, Can I use 22 AWG solid cod wire for track connections? I understand that it says to use 18 gauge wiring for larger layouts. My layout is an 8x8 in size. I do have track terminals with 18 gauge wiring but I don’t have any spade connectors that will match the wires. but I think I will have better connection using 22 AWG wires. Any and all advice helps.

IMO, I'd buy the correct connectors and use the recommended stranded wire.. Cost should be an insignificant factor, stranded wire is much easier to work with, and you should never have to worry about it again...
