won't run

I have a brand new hillcrest lumber company#10 with proto sound3.0 hi rail climax. it registers on the remote it starts and shuts down, bell rings, whistle blows. all engine sounds. but no head lamp and can not get this engine to run in forward or reverse. I also have mth's ready to run 2-8-0 proto3.0 and have no problems at all. tiu is powered by z500 brick and aux power. I think I have tried everything to get this to factory set everything engine, remote and tiu. I am new this kind of model railroading maybe your forum can help? and thanks in advance. morgan

I have a 30-4208-1 RTR steam engine, ps3 - same problem.

Using an MTH Z-4000 it does not give a WD in DCS mode.

Switched to conventional, 8-10 volts and wait approx. 30 seconds - it comes alive with sounds, whistle, bell,  but does not move.  Tried conventional reset and conventional unlock - get the acknowledgement - but nothing.  Checked the drawbar/tether for continuity - good.  Disconnected all wires where they pin into both boards and replaced securely.  Get no voltage to the motor.  Motor runs if I apply 6 or more VDC.  Headlight does not come on.

 

Something must be wrong with the software loaded into the engine.  Will follow this post - maybe I can get a clue.

Moran, Make sure the draw bar is fully inserted into the tender and that you can see the connector on the engine side is fully installe with the draw bar.

 

Bruce, still working yours, did fine one wire with a loose connector.  Did get it to load into DCS but it would not accept a factory reset.  So something is up.  Need to move the boards to the test set.  More to follow.  G
