I've never purchased "built" structure models.  I do construct the occasional kit though. However the ultimate pleasure for me is to plan out a structure to fit on my railroad, in a specific location, and for a particular need. Then design and built same using the assortment of supplies so readily available in the hobby market place...and my ever handy pile of odds and ends. That plus the sheer pleasure of having something completely original is what drives me forward in this wonderful hobby...

I do not think this kit is overpriced. I've done a few of these kits now. Two things about them, well, three actually:

1/ They are expensive! No getting around it.

2/ They take a lot of time to complete! I mean, a lot! Not a few hours! They are not for the impatient!

3/ They look a gazillion times better than Plasticville type stuff!

Amen on #3  - No offense to all of you Plasticville collectors!

Boy if you guys are complaining about the price of the H&M, what would you think if WS made the Mega-Watts in O scale and sold for two bills?

Will you be raggin of the cost of that vs. a Korber kit?

Apple vs Oranges ......China mass marketed vs Made in USA niche maeket items.

If Korber were cheaper I'd buy more.....as it is I pick just what is worth it to me.....just like I do with WS items.

I'm lucky.....I scratch build many of my structures......finishing up 7 row houses that cost me almost $60 total for all of them.

It boils down to your spending limits and skills.

Double Amen on #3.  Again no offense to you Plasticville guys. Just not for me. There are also many that think my tinplate toy like structures are goofy. No problem. To each their own.
