Most of my engines are TMCC, no Legacy yet. How does Legacy interact with my TMCC engines? I know down the road I will buy a Legacy engine but for now does Legacy actually enhance performance of my existing engines?

Works just fine, AAMOF, it will improve the running of some TMCC locomotives. It runs them in real TMCC mode instead of relative step mode.
Gerry, I was new to Legacy back in the fall before we took down our layout but found that almost without exception, all of our TMCC locomotives felt more 'solid' with Legacy. It was a very slight perception but discernible!
As John said, it smooths out the speed steps. Most TMCC locos tend to have a bit of a jump up to each speed step, especially the older the locomotive. Legacy smooths out the the speed transitions when your accelerating the locomotive. The biggest thing is that Legacy is a more modern component that is still supported and warranteed by Lionel. If you buy a used TMCC system and something quits your pretty much s.o.l
When I got my Legacy unit last year I only had 1 Legacy engine, several TMCC and several conventional engines. After using Legacy it became apparent quickly that the Cab1 had to go. Now I have 2 Cab2s but only one more Legacy engine. Not only does the Cab2 run the trains better I believe it's easier to use than the Cab1.
