I have a 2046w tender that has the WS-175 whistle. I have never had to rewire one before. The question is looking at the diagram it looks like there a relay wire coming off of the coil, to the relay. 1. Am I right in understanding that this wire goes to the relay? Or does it go around the brush plate post like a WS-125 would. 2. Either way I have no wire coming off of the coil. Does that mean the whistle is shot, or can that be repaired? I can post pictures if it would help. Let me know thanks

One wire of the relay goes to ground (usually the relay frame itself), and the other wire goes to power, usually one terminal of the brushplate.

If the wire going to the brushplate is broken at the coil, you may be able to peel away the insulating paper and find the end. Uncoil enough to make the connection to the brushplate. You will need to remove the shellac insulation from the end of the wire in order to be able to solder it. Use a piece of fine emery cloth or sandpaper.
