So here overview of the game. I must find a way to bring all the trains from my car. Get the trains into the train room and hide them among all the older trains. Then get the empty box into the attic without my wife, who is a stay at home mom, knowing new trains are coming in.

I got home from York last night and this morning at 6:00AM I was able to get a train and it's box out of the car and into the train room. I started to attempt a second run and hesitated, it's important not to rush things. It's a good thing I waited; at 6:15 my wife got up...I could of been caught sneaking the second train into the house. So I still need to get the first train out of the box and well hidden and then get the box in the attic.Of course this is only one of the purchases. Sounds like this would make a good video game for a train nut.

Scott, I'll be glad to store them for you for up to 6 months (next York), so you can smuggle them into your house gradually.  And I promise to give them enough exercise that the wheels don't rust.

A suggestion for the future:  give your wife an all-expense prepaid trip to last until a few days after York.  Mine returns today.  In all honesty, I must give her credit; she said I should get whatever I wanted.)

I know the feeling, this time I took the wife with me and purchased her a Tinplate stream liner she was pining for, then went and bought a Southern Berkshire in Crescent green.  You need to share the welt.

When packages are delivered to my house ... and before my wife sees the package ... I quickly remove the shipping label that shows it came from the train store, and I replace it with a label that indicates it came from East Coast Plumbing Supply or Whirlpool Appliance Parts Warehouse or someplace.

Wow, that sounds like too much work. I just tell her what's in the package. Yesterday I received a Downtown Deco building I won off of the Bay. She just said a package came for you as it was place on the kitchen table for all to see. I told her what it was and said come on down you can help me build the kit... she just looked at me with with a blank stare and said " No that's OK, you have fun."

Wham off the hook.

Now when I bringing home my VLBB that I am paying off, that will be a different story... I knew that walk out basement was a must have!

I'm the one that has to tell my wife... "NO I don't want to buy that" so trains are not an issue with her. In fact she is my "spokes person" for The O Scale Hauler (if you haven't seen the newest video on my YouTube channel), and will attend all train show related events with me. She gets more excited to open new trains than I do.

Thanks. Someone always takes these threads seriously and ruins the "one-upsmanship" of these classic "fishing stories."

I have to figure out how I'm going to sneak some stuff in that's shipping in December.

John:

That tinplate train's called a "Get out of the Doghouse Free" card. I think I'm going to have to buy the wife a new laptop as a preemptive move.
