Eddie, you need to clean that up before next week!
There's weather at York? Who goes for the weather?
Thanks Eddie!

Eddie:
Long range weather forecasts are essentially meaningless. I have been following these forecasts for York Week closely for the last week or so, and they change dramatically every day. Let's see what the forecast looks like a week from now, and even that will likely change some more thereafter.
Pat
Eddie,
I told you there's going to be a Blizzard in Maine and you won't be able to get out.
All those numbers will change daily. Like Gary says, blizzard will hit Maine in the forecast, then it will be 300 degrees, then about 75 and sunny.
The night before I leave I check the weather and than pack appropriately. It's pointless to be looking at the weather guesses 10-12 days out!
I remember seeing sheets of rain going across the parking lots and thinking "No Biggee.. I'm at York!!"
I remember seeing sheets of rain going across the parking lots and thinking "Oh CRAP, my umbrella is in the car!"
Not to belabor the point, but the York forecast has changed at least three times already today. Just puts an exclamation point on my earlier post, when I indicated that long range weather forecasts are inherently unreliable.
Pat
You guys are missing the point of this thread. Anticipation.
Who cares about the weather forecast. We will go to York regardless of the weather (short of a hurricane/tornado). I know I just jinxed us.

Marty is correct. It’s all about the fun of the buildup and anticipation and excitement of the Meet approaching. Nobody’s worried about what the weather will be. Just have fun watching it change, for better or worse!
I'm coming up from Florida. Can someone explain cold and rain to me? How should I prepare? Fleece jacketing for my train purchases?

Thanks Charlie, a hurricane is just what we need!

Layering.........it can be cold in the morning and then gets warmer.....a fleece with a couple of layers (sweatshirt, golf shirt,t shirt) is the way I approach it. Rain slicker over it if rain is predicted.

Yes, fleece jacket and a shopping bag with handles or a backpack.
Fleece jacket and a 10' U-Haul.

We've endured worse, no York.
Since I prepare for anything, the only forecast I am interested in calls for 100% chance of trains Monday through Saturday...
Andy
@eddie g it's time for an update!

I often end up wearing shorts unless it's really cold due to all the walking.
Here you go Marty.
Latest forecast for York week is the best one yet. Too bad we can't lock it in! Oh well, it's likely to change some more ...
Mon 16 57/46 Mostly Cloudy 17% NNW 9 mph
Tue 17 57/44 Cloudy 24% NNW 7 mph
Wed 18 62/41 Partly Cloudy 15% NW 7 mph
Thu 19 68/46 Mostly Sunny 7% WSW 7 mph
Fri 20 71/47 Mostly Cloudy 6% SW 8 mph
Sat 21 65/47 Partly Cloudy 22% WNW 9 mph

I've seen a lot worse!
Anyone ever seen snow at York? (during the meet) I have been on the turnpike and seen snow on the top of the mountains while the road itself was dry.
For me it looks good. I will be going on Thursday 68 degrees and sunny

I seem to remember one York with light flurries since I started going in 2008, but no accumulation. Several times I encountered snow crossing the Alleghenies, including one time where the roads got bad for a short while.
Andy
I'm so ready for next week. Just days away at this point for sure. Come on Tuesday evening.
Pretty typical for late October weather I would say.
Gunrunner john, Why do you copy my weather report? We don't need 2 weather reports.
It's looking a lot better till Friday night and Saturday. I don't care about Saturday, I 'm on my way home after Round the Clock at 8am.

If I copied your weather report, it would look just like your weather report.
Why do you sweat the small stuff?
Thanks Eddie
Thanks guys. This my last York, I am going to make the most of it.
Oh yeah, I see the sun so bright this morning. Where was it hiding on Saturday? This dang thing better give us the great York weather we all love. Eddie, could you give a nudge to Mr. Sunshine?

Eddie might have picked a good time to stop going. A quick look at reservations for April and all of the hotels have really raised their prices next year by quite a bit at least where we've been staying.
Marty, that is and probably will be across the board. I'm sure that if you were to have documentation of what you have paid over the course of twenty years, you would most likely see a trend upward maybe every few years. Substantial price hikes are always inevitable unfortunately. ☹️
