I am going to hook up a tpc with my powerhouse which is currently connected to a direct lockon. Is there any need to continue to use the driect lockon?
Depends on what you are going to do with the TPC. Direct Lockon has issues when the voltage level gets below 9-12 volts. It was meant to be used with the PowerHouse at 18 volts constant. If you are still running constant voltage on the TPC but just lower (say 14 volts), the Lockon will behave normally. If you try to run variable voltage and drop below the 9-12 volt limit the Lockon will not work properly (until you get above the low end thresh hold).
If you have the PowerHouse 180, it has a fast electronic circuit breaker and precludes the need for the TMCC Direct Lockon, at least IMO. Also, the point Chuck makes is significant, variable voltages weren't in the design of that device.
