So finally put blade to wood and began building the upper level. Each section is built on sections of 3/4 mdf with 2 1/2x 1 1/2 6inch uprights and a 1/4 inch top. All the sections are pinned to the table with screws while I line everything up but they will be able to come apart freely and be stored if/when the time comes. There will likely be second line that runes beneath about half the upper level, and a trolly line that runs down the center...but that can change as the project goes. Having the outter line elevated around the outside of the layout was done to add depth and to keep little hands away from the more sensitive scenes that Ill be building.
