I just purchased 6 used Lemax carnival rides at a great price They are beautiful and work well. I am setting up an area of my layout as a carnival. The people supplied by Lemax are approximately 1:30. The men are about 2 1/4" tall. Does anyone know where I can find some more people to populate the carnival at a reasonable cost? I'd like to have quite a crowd.

54mm figures are a close match (1:32 scale). All types/eras available. John A
I've looked around (e.g. Ebay) for them and haven't found any that would work. Mostly military and Vikings. Any specific suggestions for a source?
Good luck, GIP! From what I can tell, painted figures seem to be a "must have" item right now! Used ones are generally best found at train shows - at least that's where I have scored some deals. Got a few yesterday at the 60k+ sq ft Great Berea Train Show in Parma, OH, but I also saw many dealers selling used ones at a buck a piece, which is basically what you can buy on the bay from China, at nearly the same price. Lionel painted figures are at least double that! I didn't see any of the high end stuff, like Artista which normally sell for waaaay more (but then you get what you pay for!)
I wouldn't mind spending a buck apiece. But finding them large enough is the problem. Usually they are o-scale size.
Suggestion, find a Lemax dealer, probably an upscale gift store, and see if they sell figures. My wife had many Lemax items and in shopping with her I think I remember seeing boxes of figures only. With Christmas coming, a Lemax dealer should have many many items on display.
It would be worth a try, and good luck in your search. Jim Lawson
Preiser makes 1:32, the painted figures are quite expensive but they also make unpainted. See attached catalog.

type in "1/32 scale civilian figure" in Google...look at images...plenty of choices.....John A
found some here;
1/32 scale slot car figures are pretty easy to find. Euro gauge one is 1/32 so check the Walthers large scale listings. 1/30 is hard....but 1/32 should be easy.
Took me a couple minutes to find these, take your choice.

Thanks. I ordered 50. I'll have to paint the faces.
1:32 in (I assume) a nominal 1:48 world are going to very large, are they not? I mean, I know that (real) US-types are too big and eat too much, but, my goodness.
Since he's putting them on a 1:30 scale carnival ride, I think they'll look fine. OTOH, 1:48 people would look like midgets next to the existing guys.
Except Lemax doesn’t make 1:30 carnival rides. The only figures they supply are the ones on the carnival rides. As I recall, those figures are usually closer to 1:43 or smaller. But my memory could be faulty.
I know Lemax’s non carnival structures are usually close to 1:64, based on the size of doorways and such. I have a collection of those buildings, including on my permanent layout.
GJP, you said you bought these used. Might the seller have thrown in some figures from another maker? Here’s Lemax’s carnival page from its website. Do your figures look like these?:

It’s also possible Lemax is using larger figures now. I can’t be certain because I haven’t seen the carnival product at retail in probably 15 years or more.
Regardless, you can populate your carnival however you like. The figures you ordered will stand out nicely.

Wonder how these 1/32 figures would work with Standard gauge trains as they are about the correct size.
Most standard gauge trains are around twice the size of 0 scale, making them (very loosely) 1:24 or so. G scale people look the best in standard gauge settings. G "scale" is a term that is not very accurate, of course, being anything from 1:20 to 1:24.
