100% loss of TMCC signal | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

All of the sudden none of my TMCC equipped trains work in command mode anymore. They all start up in conventional @ 1,000 mph.

The green light on the command base is lit and connections are solid.

How do you diagnose the command base or do you just go out and get another one if they're xx years old?

Take the base and connect to a small test track and try a dummy unit or sound car like a tender. Is the red light flashing when you send commands from the CAB-1. Make sure the test set up has the three prong plug connected to a properly grounded outlet OR run a piece of wire off of pin 5 of the command base serial port. Your transmitter needs to send out the signal on both the "antenna" port AND the ground lug or pin 5.

Mine did the same thing, found another base unit at Trainz to replace it with. It's all good now.

Open it up and look for a broken wire. Do this after you follow what Chuck outlined. Nothing to loose.
