I have a Lionel 135 (PH 1) Powerhouse.
The ends to the track are cut off.......
One side is "ribbed"........the other smooth
Which one of the two is the positive ?

Dave FWIW: On my units, the 'ribbed" wire goes to the post furthest from the "tent" on the MOLEX connector and the smooth wire enters the center post.
From what I read here, the center post is the "hot" wire and the ribbed outer wire is the return/ground wire.
Correct---the ribbed side is the Common, smooth is Hot conductor on both the 135 and 180 PoHos. I always have cut off the plug on my PoHos in favor of soldering on spade lugs for direct connection to terminal boards, TPCs, etc. White is "color code" for Common on my layout.
