Was surfing around and came across this ad:

Condos with a past

Now you can live in the same building that housed the old Lionel Corporation showroom layout and offices. It's a few floors up from the 2nd floor Lionel showroom location, but, who knows, maybe a few of the old ghosts will roam up your way.

What were they thinking not to mention this big selling point in their ad!!!

Of course you're absolutely right, Jim!  I apologize for my quip about the unit prices (recognizing full well that New Yorkers are used to what real estate goes for in the Big Apple).

The building is, indeed, historically significant to those of us who grew up when Lionel Trains were the plaything of choice for countless numbers of young lads--many of whom have perpetuated that interest throughout their lives and beyond.  That is perhaps Josh Cowen's greatest legacy, and I imagine he would be delighted to know that what he did has had such a lasting effect into a new century.

No problem, Allan.

Just hoping to avoid the major derailment that sometimes happens to threads. I should have realized that the price would have raised some eyebrows and headed us off that way.

I wonder if any of the tenants will be aware of history, and maybe go out of their way to make sure they have at least a small operating layout at the famous address.

I'd love to send out an invitation to my housewarming party to my friends - "Come to 15 E 26th and see my Lionel layout!"

The lobbies of most of the older buildings are fairly small so I doubt if there would be enough space. Besides who would take care of it?

But what would really be cool is a business office on the second floor with a display for the general public.

Yea I know, dream on.
