I just hooked up one of my Atlas uncouplers to test it out, and had no success.

I wired the screw terminal on the top side of the tie, on the uncoupler track, thru the push button, and on to the Hot lead of my accessory transformer, then jumpered the wired outer rail to my track outside rail.

I then applied track power to my track transformer, and to the accessory transformer, and rolled a car, with a closed coupler, over the magnet, with the round tack directly over the magnet.
When I pushed the button, nothing happened.

Is there some trick to these that I may be unfamiliar with?

As indicated above and in the other thread, you need a common ground for the uncoupler. If you are using two transformers, you need to tie the "ground" connections together (and ensure the transformers are in phase). Your above description does not indicate a wire from the accessory transformer "ground" to the track or to the track transformer "ground" directly. Beyond this, it is prudent to use the outer rail opposite the screw terminal for the connection since this rail is directly wired to the magnet.
If you wish to test the magnet itself, wire the magnet track directly to the transformer and apply 12V-14V.

I am using common ground.
All transformers, including A, B, C, D, of my ZW are wired together and are in phase.
Track transformer has ground to track, and is in phase with accessory transformer.

I also did try connecting directly to the transformer, and did use the wired outer rail on the uncoupler track.

RWL, since you are using common ground then the uncoupler must be defective. There’s not much to them as far as complexity. Hook the wiring up to a 12 or 18 volt bulb and push the button. If it lights then surely the uncoupler is defective. Keep us posted. Good luck.

I opened up the second uncoupler, and it seems to work properly.
Makes a light buzz when depressing the button, but chatters like antilock brakes when the coupler actuator goes over it, and gets activated.
The other one must be bad.
