This is as complete a listing as I have been able to compile. Certainly, there may be more I’ve missed. Please update this list if you find any others that are not included. Thanks.

@Mark V. Spadaro posted:There is a fairly elusive Lionel NY Central Pacemaker freight set, with 3 Std. O Boxcars, with diecast frames, and a caboose. I don’t have the MPN for this set. Otherwise, this list is as complete as I have been able to find, as there is no readily available resource. If anyone knows of any other boxcars or reefers with a diecast frame, please add them here.
The above set is Lionel 6-17246. It is listed in the 1998 Lionel "Classic Trains" Volume II catalog.
In the same catalog are (2) more sets, the Union Pacific (6-21757) and Northern Pacific (6-11977). Both of these sets offered (2) boxcars with diecast frames. A boxcar and a reefer. I have the NP set, the Lionel #'s are 6-17243 and 6-17316. As you noted, the 17243 is on your list. The 17316 is a 40' reefer boxcar with a diecast frame.
Just trying to help out.
Donald
The Lionel NYC 9464 boxcars from set 6-17246 are
6-17247 Road #174940
6-17248 Road #174945
6-17249 Road #174949
Just in case anyone is interested, the caboose included in the set is 6-19754 Steel Sided 7606 Caboose #20112.
Thanks, Donald & Greg. Donald, please either post a picture of the other NP car or send it to me in an email. Thanks.
There is the 6-21761 B&M 4-pac, I have those NIB, never even took the cellophane off.

John, I think those are 6565 cars, not 9464 cars.
EDIT: Yes, they are 6565 cars, same size as the 6464 cars.

Here you go Mark. Hope that helps.

I just received #7 on the list (17220 PRR) and it does not have a die cast frame.
Also, #2 (17234) arrived with a die cast frame, but it was a variant for the LCCA 30th anniversary with prominent extra markings.
I have the 6-17234 PH&D LCCA and plain cars, the die cast frames are hefty. The B&M 6-17235 also is diecast frame.

I believe the numbering system, 6-172XX, is indicative of a die cast frame, but like all things in the toy train world, this is not consistent. My PRR car is not readily accessible to look at the features listed on the end flap of the box. Please post a picture of end flap. Also, I was unaware of the LCCA PH&D variant. Please post a picture.
Ron S - I believe my original post contained a transcription error for the MPN for the B&M car. You have posted the correct MPN. Thank you both for your replies.
If it has a die cast frame it would be listed on the end cap of the box.
Yes, youre right, the 17220 did not say die cast frame on the end flap, you could tell it wasn't just by picking up the box. Bought online and I just assumed the box didn't list all the features...
Can anyone please confirm the MR 17226 has the die cast frame? Thanks.
The MR 6-17226 does NOT have die cast frame. It does have a very nice livery though.
Thank you; yes, it's a very nice-looking car but I want to collect a few more of the die-cast frame models first...looks like that one's off my list for now.
Thanks again!

You don’t list an email - send me an email; I have a coupla dupes.
Hi, thanks, email sent (I think).
I have unintentionally posted some incorrect car numbers in the above list. I had previously purchased half a dozen diecast 9464 box car frames, and I swapped them out on the Milwaukee Road and the Pennsylvania RR cars. I also swapped out the Penn Central but I did not list it. I don’t think there are any more listed erroneously. I didn’t remember it at the time. They have been removed.
