1950s Lionel Santa Fe Motor Not Running

All good ideas.  That transformer at 2.1 amps/40W (maybe) is definitely to small.  One of my geeps E.I. 2349 NP with the same motor pulls 2.75 amps at 16V.  Thats using a old KW.  I also would exchange that old .027 track for .031.  I know this was designated as 027, but it would sure run better on .O31.   JMHO

hey, sorry for the lack of response.  last day of work before the holiday break, busy day.  i'm going to swing by a local train shop not too far from home and see if they have any reasonable transformers, otherwise go the amazon/ebay route.  

When your out n about get a tube of Lucas Red N tacky #2 grease,  Your local auto parts store, wally world, the" zone" all carry it. Comes in a 14 oz tube or a 1 lb container. Brush it VERY LIGHTLY on the drive gear in the power truck.  Makes the worm/drive gear run smooth.  Lasts long time.  I use Hoppe's gun oil for the axles and oil wick.  Any good 10w30 wt motor oil will work good to.   JMHO
