I have a Santa Fe F3 ABA set, vintage 1991(reference 71-8102-252) in which the sounds no longer function.  The dummy unit 1-1802 (same as Great Northern 1-8106) contains the Railsounds electronics.  When powered up the headlight lights and I can hear a faint hum from the speaker.  Turns out I have a broken wire.  A green wire runs back from the "Sound Board" (610-8808-040) to a yellow wire nut and then on towards the vicinity of the "Sound Amp Board"  (610-8007-110) where apparently it has broken off.  I don't see an obvious point where it should be connected and I haven't been able to find a wiring diagram or schematic for this unit.  Can anyone help me make the proper connection???

Thanks,

I am looking at a wiring diagram for the Railsounds boxcar which has the same components as your engine.  This green wire is coming up from the sensor on the truck.  do you see three wires coming from the truck, a yellow, blue and green, they go into the top of the sound boardIs the wire attached to the board??  At the wire nut connection, are there any other wires??  Coming out of the Amp board are two red wires, are these still attached to the speaker.  Sorry for all the questions, but since there are no pictures posted, I have to ask...

Not easy at all.  I did get the truck off and pulled the sensor and bracket out.  Too microscopic to repair so I'm shopping for the parts.  I need;

691-8000-T87 Sensor with leads
610-8502-085 Bracket

The assembly that I took out seems to be glued together but it would be easier to start with all new parts.

Lionel does not stock them and refers to North Lima Trainworks.  Any other suppliers who have both pieces.

Just for the record the leads on mine are yellow, blue and green.  I saw another allegedly "Lionel" sensor that appeared to have four leads, one of which was black. don't know if they would fit let alone work properly.   Haven't tried to pry the sensor from my bracket but it doesn't look too difficult.  Marty, how much do you want to part with a yellow, blue,green one?  Please reply to loisandnels2@gmail.com
