This is edited 2 days later. I'll leave my original embarrassingly dumb question here and apologize for not thinking first!

Every year that I've set up my 2 AIUs they were a short distance apart - short enough to use the connector cable that comes with them.

For this upcoming Christmas layout, as I see things right now, the AIUs could be 13' apart.  I'm wondering if this would work: use one of those phone line "splitters" that allows for one floor jack to be output to 2 corded phones.  I would put that in the TIU and then run separate connecting cables to each AIU.

I like this better than running a long wire between the 2 AIUs as the TIU will most likely be centrally located between the 2 AIUs.

thanks - walt

As soon as I left the library and got home I thought "What a STUPID question"!!!!  I'm somewhat embarrassed.  Not somewhat, very.

After having programmed my 2 AIUs for multiple years now I should have known that they have to be daisy chained since you have to identify which AIU you are programming a port for.  Shame on me!

Plus, I was thinking, wouldn't the cord that fits a wall-jack for a phone be the wrong cord???  I know the one from the TIU to the remote has to be the one that would connect the phone to the receiver so I would assume it would have to be the same for the AIUs too.

Sorry that I wasted your time, but thanks Barry and Marty for being kind and not ripping me to shreds (like you surely could have ) in your replies!
