I put this at the end of an old link, decided to try again alone, here goes:

Here is what spurred this request.........  Recently I "lost" lights, coupler, sound etc on an Genesis. Was going to ship it off, but one more inspection (after eye improvement) and I saw the connector was not tight to the board. Snapped it one end and...voila. Today I was running the engines, first time in awhile. Running through the softkeys, I hit a couple, heard some sounds, BUT some did nothing!!

Later, I fired it up....no interior lights, and something else was missing. Hot under the collar, I pulled the 6 screws and took the shell off. All looked good, wiggled wires - BUT I had missing lights! I reset the engine. While it sat there, after the reset and all good. THEN, I hit an Skey. The cab light went off! Never knew/saw that before! Guess that key did something after all.

Hit another key, another light went off. Well, I turned them back on, put the shell on. Mental note: never hit an unknown softkey once. It may "not" do anything you notice, but it probably will "do" something. Remember to hit the key a second time, to counteract whatever it was that happened.

So, I would like to delete some Skey commands! I have no idea why my engineer wanted to turn off the cab light - but I don't want him to any longer!! And especially if he caused a train wreck - I cause enough on my own.

Help???    Greg

Oh man, problems solved. I found Susan Deets sheet with the codes/acronyms, and after you guys made me realize that the first button SE1, which I can't rename, is #1 when you go to the list, that lit the bulb. Meaning button 10 is #10 on the list. Great.

So I either use the list (which appears to be for a PS3 BigBoy) as a guide, or "play" each "Ending Snd 3" or "Idle Snd 1" to find out what it is. When I find one I no longer need (like turn off cab lights or trainwreck" I exercise my rights, and delete it. No idea how to get it back again, but I probably do not care.

Did the Genesis and PRR steamer today. Will make my own xcel sheet for each  engine, with the sounds I want for each button.

*(edited: I did find out how..........To restore a deleted softkey: Because softkeys are associated with an engine rather than the system itself, restoring a deleted softkey can only be accomplished by deleting the engine it is associated with and then re-adding the engine.)

Thanks for all the help, Greg (speaking of bulbs, I had a ziplock last week with my little bulbs for Lockons and passenger cars....can't find the bag today. My days get more like this ever day. Aging!)
