Programing Legacy Engines for a lash up

I have three Lionel legacy engines. Two power units and one super base unit. I'm using a Cab 1L remote. All three were programed to run as single engines and were working fine. When I tried to program all three as a single lash up they would not respond. after trying several times the two power units would work using the ENG button not the TR button. Also they were going in opposite directions. None of the three are responding to the ENG button command individually. Basically they are all messed up.How do I clear them and start fresh?
