So, as the modification for turning blue, white, and orange Lionel modules into a rewritable module has been around for over a decade, and I have "modified" my fair share of them, I realized that if you say, destroy the casing.... Or if you arent sure if that blue module you just found in a closet has been already modified... I wanted to make a 3D print of the Lionel memory module casing.... That way you can take the guts out and put them in your own colored casing of your liking... Maybe make them all neon green or yellow so you can actually find them. I will mention that SOME of the modules had a plastic plate on the circuit board that was glued on to fatten them up to make them fit better in the case, some did not... It was dependent on what was needed at the factory level to make them not loose in the case I assume. One (usually the front one) or both may need to be removed to make the chipset properly sit in the case. Anyways, I have created a 3D print file for your consumption. Perhaps you want all of your rewritable modules one color or want them sorted out some other way. Maybe its of no use to anyone else but me. But here is a .3mf file that was sliced in Prusa slicer and the separate top/bottom .STL files.

This is great! Thank you!
Cool, looks like a candidate for the 3D print library.

I was thinking the same, didn’t look like much had been updated in a few years there so, I posted here for the time being. Perhaps someone closer to the inner sanctum of OGR will be able to chime in on that.

The 3d print library is being updated regularly. There is a submital process and file naming guidelines. On the top menu of the 3d Project catalog page there is a "3d File Checklist" and "Send your 3D file options". I use this regularly for my submissions.
I think maybe you need to submit a couple projects before you show up as a contributor on the front page. I submitted the GSDS endcaps a while back using the submission process and it shows up as a download file with all my information, but you can't really search the library so you just have to scroll and hope you see something that you need.
Thanks VHubbard and J.Dooley! I will have to investigate. I wanted to post it in the files, but that wasn’t an option when classifying the post.

In any case, thanks for the file, nice job!
Thanks GRJ! I’m just glad others may also find it useful. I made several iterations before I considered it “good enough” and I initially had it without an “L” on it, but, then it’s hard to differentiate which side is which without picking it up and inspecting. Any manuals on how to operate it also allude to “have the L facing up when placing into the base or Cab2 (or Base3 now)” and I wanted it to be user friendly (and easier to stack).
Yep, it needs something so you can tell what the front is.
