Well i'm sure this is has been asked before. Still, I'm going to ask again. How hard is it to convert Lionscale cars to 2-rail.

I recently converted one to two-rail. After the proper wheelsets (Lionel did not offer 36" 100 ton ones) arrived from NWSL, it took me longer to get everything together than it did to do the actual conversion. It is an ACF two-bay Centerflow and has the proper mounting holes for Kadee couplers. Plan about an hour for the complete job.

Whatever you plan to 2 rail, the right side wheels must be electrically isolated (insulated) from the left side wheels, unless you are running something like battery power. You cannot have an electrical short (physical contact of a conductor like a piece of metal ) across the 2 rails, except in the case of battery power, where the rails are electrically neutral. Intermountain sells 2 rail wheel sets.

Aren’t Lionscale cars former Weaver tooling? Can’t you just use Weaver two rail trucks? Always available on the auction sites.

I’m wanting to convert 8 coal hoppers. Was thinking of Athearn trucks with intermountain wheels unless the wheels would work on the Lionel trucks.
