Maybe this isn't new for folks that have been involved for 15+ years, but I came across this 2007 Legacy announcement (PDF attached). What I found interesting os toward the bottom was a reference to a future Legacy Monitor device that appears between what looks to be a pair of 990/993's.
Did that ever make the light of day or maybe the LCS app emerged to provide a similar function?
