282 crane with stripped base gear | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a 282 crane that is mechanically fine, but 3 consecutive teeth on the base gear are worn away at the bottom. This causes the crane to get stuck in that position on the gear during horizontal rotation in either direction. Does anyone have any ideas for ways to repair the gear?

Dennis Waldron in NJ (Just Trains) I think can still repair those gears. But I think it was like 20.00 per gear tooth.

You might want to try epoxy putty or JB Weld, then recut the teeth by hand...

Put a washer under the other gear or that one I forget which and change the mesh position. Common problem with the 282.
